The Medieval literature movements began back in the 18th hundred years with Horace Walpole's " The Fort of Otranto” and was a derivative of the Romantic Activity. Writers in the Gothic Genre were focused on drawing on the emotions with the reader and creating a great atmosphere of suspense, puzzle, terror and dread. The writers also emphasized the supernatural, and how horror may be present in a large number of everyday circumstances. Gothic text messaging also place emphasis on emotions such as disappointment, hysteria, puzzle, venerability, suspense and panic. Many Gothic texts will be based in spots that are rotting, deserted, left behind, isolated or that have a have a brief history of loss of life, war and family feuds. The short story " The Discolored Wallpaper” written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman pertains to and explores these features of the Gothic Genre however, not only that, is used so as to critique the male dominated world she lived in. While not the only gothic text with feminist symbolism, I would argue that really certainly one of one of the most influential, in least as compared with the other tales we've check out this semester.

Males at that time were not too interested in the idea of females breaking free of the organizations that were holding them. Assisting the expression with the author's feminist views are the thoughts and dialogue with the narrator.
